From the nastiness of the opening note you feel as though you’re going to need a shower after listening to 9 O’Clock Nasty. They exude feelings of danger and filth from beginning to end in this magnificent piece of music that they’ve triumphantly composed. Right about now you’re thinking “hell, that didn’t go where I thought it was headed”. You probably thought I would lead you AWAY from listening to ‘Playboy Driver’. No, my friends you need to run at this song like an out-of-control race car. Be ready for impact because it will be life altering.
This group of exceptionally talented musicians have come together to birth into the world life changing music. They have brought us music we didn’t know we needed, but now that have it we are better for it. I sit back, close my eyes, and immerse myself into the world they have created with ‘Playboy Driver’. Engrossing myself in this magnificent song, I find my mind conjuring images of its own. Ones where I see a grizzled old cowboy pumping gas into his muscle car with a lit cigarette dangling from his mouth. Much like Kris Kristofferson in ‘Blade’. From there he hits the desert road where he does 100 mph leaving a never-ending trail of dust behind him as ‘Playboy Driver’ blares from the speakers.

Mean, gritty and full of attitude. That’s the best way I can describe this hard as hell song. I mean you hear the thumping drumbeat courtesy of the energetic Sydd Spudd, the engaging and gnarly guitar riffs brought to life by the immensely talented Pete Brock, the incendiary bass line played to perfection by Ted Pepper and you just want to snarl your lip as you swig from a beer bottle. The swagger and attitude of the justifiably confident lead singer Brock supported by backing vocals from Pepper and Spudd makes for a massive hit. Hide your daughters and lock up the liquor cabinets, 9 O’clock Nasty is coming through town.
